A book and documentary are being developed to help in understanding what has occurred and the impact it has had, since the first bullet was fired on Monday 16th May, 1983 in the town of Bor, Southern Sudan. Both narrate the plight of the Third World and looks at how the West has neglected to ask the right questions and has instead, delivered many wrong answers.
The life of “Daniel” Deng Bol Aruei, one of the Lost Boys of Sudan, exhibits the very essence of what can be achieved after all has been lost. As the first bullet was fired at 5.00am on that watershed day, his life has never been the same. As the first refugee off the first truck into Kakuma Refugee Camp, his life has never been the same. Thank goodness his life has never been the same, because now others from the Sudan will never be the same.
